- Start typing the name of an ingredient (e.g., butter, bread, american cheese).
- Select from the list that appears.
- Your selected ingredients will show up as labeled pills below the input box.
๐ข Step 2: Choose How Many Substitutes You Want
- Use the "+" or "โ" buttons next to "Select number of substitutions to recommend" to increase or decrease the number of suggestions (default is 5).
๐ Step 3: Filter Substitutions (Optional)
You can activate specific filtering criteria to refine recommendations:
- Allergen: Filters out ingredients based on selected allergen preferences.
- Cost: Prioritizes budget-friendly substitutions.

- Check any allergens you want to avoid:
- Nut-Safe
- Dairy-Safe
- Shellfish-Safe
๐ Step 5: View Your Results
- A substitution graph on the right visualizes ingredient replacements:
- Blue nodes = original ingredients
- Green nodes = good substitutes
- Red nodes = selected substitutes (or original ingredient to keep)
- Orange node = the "recipe" center
- Lines connect related items.
โ Step 6: Review the Substitution Summary
At the bottom left, see your personalized results:
- Original Ingredients listed
- Chosen Substitutes displayed in colored tags
